Being a vacation destination, Summit County hosts numerous lodging options. Below are a few suggestions for places to stay. Places will book quickly due to the holiday weekend, so please don't delay. Click on the property names to be taken to their website.
Best Western Ptarmigan Lodge:
On the shores of Dillon Reservoir and neighbors our favorite restaurant, Arapahoe Cafe in Dillon proper. A block of rooms has been reserved and will be released if not booked by June 4th.
Rooms Reserved: 2 Queen Beds for $107.99/night + tax
652 Lake Dillon Drive
Dillon, CO 80435
970-468-2341
Vacation Rentals By Owner
An online booking website for 2nd homes and condos in tourism locations. Great for larger groups of friends or families that desire a home-like atmosphere with kitchens, living rooms, and separate bedrooms. If you have any questions on location, please shoot us an email to [email protected].
The following towns are listed in their proximity to Windy Point Campground, and clicking each name will direct you to that coordinating search: Dillon, Keystone, Silverthorne, Breckenridge, Frisco.
Windy Point Campground
FREE Camping! Bring out the camper or pitch a tent to hang out with us at the venue. Bonfires, boats and Bag-O at basecamp while being centrally located to all the excitement that the towns of Summit County have to offer. Amenities are limited to composting vault toilets and 3 water spigots located throughout the grounds.
We especially are encouraging this option on the night of July 4th, as we would hate for guests to associate their memories of this weekend with a DUI. Please designate a sober driver.

What to Pack
Temperatures vary widely here! When the sun is shining at its fullest, July temperatures have been known to reach 80 degrees. It feels hotter due to the intensity of the rays at this altitude. But, on the other hand, it has also snowed this time of year. And there is usually an afternoon shower rolling through the vicinity.
So...basically, you need one of everything! This way you can layer up or down according to the changing conditions. Always greet any mountain experience with a warm layer in tow, along with a full water bottle and a layer of sunblock. We recommend bringing quick drying, synthetic fiber clothing akin to workout apparel. For example, opt for a polyester fleece over a cotton hoody. So the saying goes...cotton kills.
And think of Lehderfest attire as "campground chic". Wear your cutest sundress (with warm accessories), dress up your favorite blue jeans, or whatever happens to fit your holiday mood. Really, wear whatever! We want you to be you and to have a great time!
